Shade structure pavilions offer attractive communal outdoor shaded areas for students to gather comfortably at peak times of the day. Outdoor shade with these multipurpose structures provide shade for a variety of outdoor activities, e.g. break and lunch areas and outdoor classrooms.

Recommended that a shade audit be done to ensure the seating areas have adequate outdoor shade canopy from the direct sun over the break and lunch times. Architects now incorporate outdoor shade designs in all new school construction to increase outdoor sun shade. Walkway covers are increasingly used to protect children as they commute from their school buildings to outdoor classrooms.
